Every now and then Leva gets to go to the wood shop to help Jesse when he's tinkering with the car. Some time in Jan or Feb he went to work with his good 'ol dad and worked the moulder with Jesse. A moulder is a machine that's used to shape wood, feeding the wood thru one end and out comes the finished product on the other side. The moulder at the shop looks like this one. Leva fed the moulder while Jesse got it on the other side (by the way he did a great job). A couple days later Jesse came home from work and as he walked thru the door, Leva handed him Legos he'd been putting together (picture above) and said..
Leva: Here Dad, I made this for you!
Jesse: Thanks. What is it?
Leva: it's a moulder factory. This is the moulder and that's you under the moulder. Your dead .
And he just walked away after that. We had a good laugh about it. Lately every play talk I've overheard has ended with an animal character being killed off or some one running for their lives.
The past couple of weeks Sesi's been trying his hardest to scare me. It's funnier than anything because he is SO bad at it. He's loud, I always hear him "tip-toeing" which is really stomping and his whisper is at normal volume. When he hides he is usually still out in the open with only his arm or leg hidden, really I don't know why it all started but it's been equally hilarious and annoying mostly because he does it at the worst times, like when the babies are napping or when we're loading up in the car and running late. Basically he'll circle the car and every one is buckled , we're waiting on him , and when i walk around the car to get him he walks the opposite way, we're playing merri-go-round. As I'm telling him to get in , he's giggling, saying, "I'm Gona scare mama" and right before I reach him he jumps and ROARS!! Of course at that point I feel like tossing him in the car but he's smiling so hard because he thinks he actually did the job right. Today was a day just like any other. I'm loading up the younger 3 boys into the car to head to town for a few things. Sesi went out ahead of me, probably five minutes before I walked out of the house to put on slippers and get buckled. Some times he'll play out front while I'm gathering things to head out the door. Buckled Jeremy, check. Buckled Sale, check. Load diaper bag, everything else that's going with us, shut the door and notice Sesi isn't in the car. "Sesi? Seesi! Seeeeesiii!" Quick look thru the window to the other side of the car, not there either. So quiet. Too quiet. Darn this kid, he walked off to the neighbors house! Taking a deep breath to call out for him to come home and then "RAAAAAHHH!!!!!", flipping kid jumps out from behind
the car and scares the living day lights out of me. The little rascal finally did it. I couldn't stop laughing. He laughed, gave me a hug and said with a huge grin, "I waahd (roared) and scared mama! Let's tell Kala and Leva about this!!" I was so happy for him.
I love to hear stories of the kids at play. Here's one Ke'ala shared with me about her n her pal Lynzee on the farm a while ago while I was cooking dinner.
Keala: one time, me and Lynzee, we were at the pig pens and we had pink petals and we were throwing them at the pigs and we were singing Aloha Oe to them.
Me: why we're you singing Aloha Oe?
Keala: cause we wanted them to grow up to be like their daddy's!
Aloha Oe is a farewell song we sing to ppl leaving the ward or island. It's pretty deep. The crybaby song. Can you imagine a couple of 5yr old girls sitting on the pigpen throwing flower petals at a bunch a dirty old pigs while singing it? Another LOL moment for mom.
Tonight while I was making the kids a quick dinner a quiet dark face in the night scared the heebee jeebees out of me. Dad. Grandpa. No knock, no "hello, anyone home?". I can't tell you how often this guy does that. Just opens the sliding door, sticks his head in and wAits for some one to notice him. Our front light is never on and his skin is dark as heck so it truly is just a pair of white eyes looking at you from the darkness until He's spotted and the kids scream "Grandpaaaaa!" Or I have a heart attack. Hahaha. I love my dad . Dad likes to make unexpected visits from time to time (weekly or bi-weekly), most times, who am I kidding, it's ALWAYS for Salesi our #4. Salesi's at a real fun age, he'll be 2 next month. Even after I've told dad not to, he'll show up and we'll replay something like this conversation we had tonight, every time.
Me: dad, you know every time you take him I miss him so much? It makes me so sad. I know you like to have him over and I don't mind but I miss him.
Dad: I know ling, but you know....long pause....He should come with me because I'm gona be dead soon. (Insert sad face)
And that's pretty much how he wins. The old man has a pouty face like a bulldog, not even my husband can deny. Each week we tell each other we are keeping our boy and Jesse swears he's not going to budge and then my dad is on his death bed and jesses packing up sale's things to go and I'm wondering, what happened to staying strong? Gramps ain't afraid to use his old age to his advantage. We love him. And his sneaky ways. I love how much my parents love their grand kids. It's insane.
