Manini BBQ

Several wks ago,in September, the Mister and I had a very informal last minute bbq at Manini Beach. I wanted to get together with my family that I hadn't seen in a while and we didn't have the time to wait because October was a very busy month for us. I rallied up my brother and Palu cousins and Palea fam to hele on to the beach for food and fun. Manini's was the spot we often went to as kids and it was very different then. In 2011 the Japan tsunami hit Kona and wiped away the big blue beach house that used to be on the property where the rock wall is. This used to be a rocky beach but the tsunami also brought up the sand. It's a perfect spot for little ones. A private party also came in and put grass in and theres a community garden with The concept to take if you need and give back in return when you have crops to spare. None of us had been there in a long while, it had been several yrs for myself. I was happy to see the changes. It was a sweet moment for me to see our kids play with their cousins here as I did growing up.

My dad with the white hair(Grampy to the kids) and Uncle Sefo. Together til the very end these 2. Growing up in Kona, anytime we did anything as a family, this guy was right by my dad's side. They dived together.. not so much now, they just float, fish together, camp together. Uncle Sefo is awesome. Glad to see some things never change.

Once you swim past the sand, there's a bunch of coral reef and great places to snorkel and body board, kayak, what ever you like do, do. The boys swam out and David uncle sefos boy, came back with an octopus. The darn thing latched itself onto him as he was swimming and looking in a hole or rock, cave. Whatever happened, it would've freaked me out. In one of the pictures you can see the marks across David's arm chest and stomach, where the tentacles were.

Aunty mae made her yummy mochi and brownie/shortbread cookies.. Bomb! I'm glad everyone made it out, we had a great time and I can't wait to do it again.

Apina grand kid #17

On Tuesday, October 9th, my oldest sister Moli and her hubby Bryan welcomed Bryan Alofagia Asiata Savelio into the world. He is a handsome chubby thing , weighing in at 9lbs 5 oz, and 22 inches. Isn't he the cutest? He is named after his dad, his middle names come from Bryans nephew, Greg, who was very close with Bryan and passed away at a young age And he also has Bryan's dad's middle name. My sister says he eats like a horse, makes sense, if your the size of one, you need to eat like one hahah. He is the 17th grandchild for my side of the family and the 4th child for my sister. They are all so happy and excited, I can't wait to hold the big guy!!!!

Boys and Girls

Another old video that makes me laugh. Probably just because they are my kids. Anyone else would think this is annoying. It shows the difference between boys and girls. What I love most about Ke'ala is when she likes to do something, she REALLY EXPRESSES IT. There is no hiding it. I thought it was just the tire swing, but when I thought back to any ride she'd been on before, she had the same reaction. After watching it for the first time I had flashbacks of rides I had been on with my sisters and friends and remembered all the fun we had and half the fun was from us screaming. After I got the swing going fast she yelled out, " COME ON BOYS, LETS SCREEAM!! ".. and, well, you'll see the rest. Boys keep cool. Girls have more fun. ;D

Where's My "Warm"?

This video was taken when we first came to Hawaii 6 almost 7 months ago. Where has the time gone? Their ages were 2,3&4 and I still had a baby bump. Leva is now 5, Ala will be 4 in one week :( .. and Sesi, 3 in a couple months. Makes me sad to think of it. They are now much darker, they speak clearly.. a little. Sesi can say his 'L's, 'Leva' instead of 'Weva', and Leva doesn't talk as fast as he used to. In the video he tells Ke'ala to 'turn around' at one point, but when he watches it now, he thinks he is saying 'tuna', so he will randomly shout 'TUNA!' while playing or watching tv and think its the funniest thing.
