Akaka Falls & Waipio Valley in a Day continued..
We stopped by Waipio Valley for a couple of hours on our way home from Akaka Falls. It was a much needed break for the kids and hands down the best spot on the island.
They like to cover themselves in sand. Poor Ke'ala, crying while everyone is having fun. Like mother like daughter, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Jesse was chasing her and she didn't want to be chased. Torture :(
Little brothers turn.
He would be screaming at Jesse here. I can't remember what they were playing.
Akaka Falls & Waipio Valley in a Day
The past few months have been filled with rain. Leva asked why the rain hasn't stopped , its summer. There should be no rain in the summer! One rainy day last month I got an itch to go for a drive. We drove to the other side of the island where, to our surprise, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day.
Our first stop was Akaka Falls. It usually takes about 30-45 min to walk through this trail. We did it in 10 minutes. The kids literally ran through the trail, they were so anxious to see what was at the end of it, they ran- we ran right through it. We tag teamed who had to tell them to slow down. They paused for a minute in front of the couple of waterfalls and said it was soo cool....and continued to run to the end. Boy were they disappointed when they saw that it circled around and they were right back at the beginning. And I quote, "What? This is the end? We're at the beginning!! Mom, we don't want to do this again."
The road to the Falls.
Right outside Akaka Falls is the little town of Honomu. Ke'ala and I took a stroll through this cute place.
"Shahks! Dey only bite when you touch dea private pahts."
